|

Hi all,
I am quite new here (see post counter ) and I have a few questions...
After one year of doing inline slalom i am quite familiar with inline skates, especially freeskates, but now (after I have watched most of the very nice videos on rollerquad.net and because i think it's really cool ) I am very interested in quads. Stupidly I do not know a lot about them moreover i am not very talented in building up things on my own
After researching and researching I found out what could be right for me. Adopting my knowledge about inline skates I know that for testing purposes very cheap material is not advisable so I will spend quite a lot of money though I do not know if I really will like quad skating (but with cheap/bad quads I surely would hate it ). So after talking and talking and talking and talking I come to my questions.
What is the metal plate for, you mount under the heels or even under the whole shoe? Would it be very bad if I do jumps without a plate like this?
Isn't it very unhealthy to do high jumps with quads? As far as I know they should not have any shock absorbers (I mean the shoes). Maybe the plate is the shock absorber.... I don't know.
I found that Hawaii Surf seems to be the only shop were to buy almost the best things for quads. Like I said before I do not want to build up my first quads on my own even if it is recommended. First I want to get a feeling for side by side adjusted wheels under my feet. Because of that I decided to buy one of those packs. Can you tell me something about the following two quads (Meanwhile I know that the plates are quite good but I want to know if the shoes are useable):
First one, Second one
(Even if the shoes are good I will buy a pair of powerstraps too)
Oh, nealy I forgot to tell you what I want to do with the quads. Like I do on inlines I want to try out some slalom but because it looks sooooo nice I want to conquer my fears of falling and try some freeskating too (jumps and such things). And surely I want to do some recreational skating (I don't mind low speed or instability (I am using a rockered 231mm inline frame for that purpose at the moment *g*)
Moreover does anyone know if Hawaii Surf delivers to Austria. Otherwise I will have to forget that option instantly (I should have asked this question at the beginning )
Thanks...
(and I hope that some Englisch speaking people are here which are familiar with quads)
EDIT: Oh and for a 40,5 or 41 shoe size I should take a t3 plate size (on Hawaii Surf they recommend t4 for that shoe size), am I right? |

That is very strange.
I tried to register with my main e-mail account and received this error message: "Désolé, mais cette adresse e-mail a été bannie."
Because of that I tried with my second e-mail account and it seemed to work. I even received a mail that everything worked and I will have to wait for activation. There the first thing was odd: The password I entered has changed a little bit but I thought this could have been because of the settings of the forum.
But when I try to reset my password I receive this error message: "L'adresse e-mail que vous avez fournie ne correspond pas avec celle qui a été utilisée pour ce nom d'utilisateur." (this is the same error message I get when I try to reset the password of a username which surely does not exist and an imaginary e-mail address)
Moreover when I try to register again with the e-mail account that worked before I receive the same error message like with the first one...
So I posted here... |

We have many bots per day. So we banned some kind of email.
But we won't duscuss this for days.
The fact is that a quad skates is a custom pair of skates. It means, you shoud choose yourself your pair of shoes. Then you'll go in a shop to buy plates, wheels and bearings.
Don't buy a pack online because you don't even know how you'll be in the shoes. And if it hurts you, you won't skate at all.
So :
- step 1 : go in sport shop and buy a pair of basketball shoes (mid ones) with no visible air in the outsole,
- step 2 : buy plates, ... online of in a shop next to your place
- step 3 =: bouild your pair with a friend, following the procedure you'll find here
-step 4 : go skates !!!! _________________ 100% Quad |

Hello!
Now I have another question and I hope someone can answer it. If I bring the parts (shoes, plates) do the guys at a shop in Paris (Nomades, Hawaiisurf, ...) build up quads too and if so how much would something like this cost? For the first time I think I don't need any metal plates between frame and shoe, because the sole of the shoe ist quite hard and flat and I will build this one up later. But first I will have to fix a problem with my online bought Lazer plates and powerstraps which seem to be used some time before they sent them.... quite frustrating and makes me really angry.
Thanks.. |

It will cost you around 10 euros.
Ask for Stefan Zuber at Nomades and Claude or Cedric at Hawaii Surf. _________________ 100% Quad |
