Hello everyone,
I'd like to announce Battle Bremen, a freestyle skating competition taking place in Bremen, Germany on April 30th and May 1st, 2011.
Technical information:
- There will be a freestyle slalom battle and a speed slalom contest
- There might be also slide and jump contests depending on time and participants
- It's a World Slalom Series event, so the freestyle slalom and speed slalom results will count for your WSSA ranking
- This is a "Basic Event" aka "Two Cone Event", which means the first places for style/speed get 200 points each
- The event will take place in the roller sports stadium ("Rollsportstadion") Bremen
- This stadium has a very nice flat and level concrete floor the size of an inline hockey field (40x20m)
- It's outside but has a roof, so rain is no problem
- We have this nice place for two whole days for ourselves!
- Event home page with more information: http://www.jlippert.net/battlebremen/
- There's also a Facebook event
Non-technical stuff:
I'm hoping that this event will be a little like the early and/or smaller but quite international battle events like Battle UK, Freestyle Skating Weekend Mönchengladbach, Battle Belgium etc. which are events "by skaters for skaters", where people came from all over Europe, all over the world in fact, and traveled long ways just to meet other skaters.
I'd like this event to start on Friday, April 29th already, by meeting in a restaurant with all the people who have arrived already or will arrive in the evening. We will also go to some place for food and drinks on Saturday evening together if you like.
Please tell everyone about this! Any questions, just ask here or use the eMail address you find on the WWW site.
Hope to meet you in Bremen!
Jochen
P.S.: There are direct Air France flights several times a day(!) between Paris CDG and Bremen... |

Small update: In addition to everything else planned so far, there may be an Individual ("Classic") Freestyle Slalom competition (inofficial, not counting for your WSSA World Ranking). Please see the updated registration form here:
http://www.jlippert.net/battlebremen/register-en.html
Also please see above link if you are not on this list already:

If you need more reasons to come to Battle Bremen, here are the top ten:
10. It's a nice, small town with short ways to almost everywhere except the stadium
9. The small airport close to the city centre
8. I will brush the stadium floor for you if necessary
7. Coffee roasted in Bremen (Jacob's, Münchhausen, ...)
6. Chocolate manufactured in Bremen (Hachez, Feodora, ...)
5. Beer brewed in Bremen (Beck's, Haake Beck Kräusen, ...)
4. It's a good preparation for Le Havre which is a good preparation for Bologna Battle (which are both a good preparation for Paris)
3. It's a good preparation for Paris
2. The stadium with its incredibly skateable floor
1. The other skaters who are coming to Bremen!
