I'm sorry to say, but in fact public was not at all welcome, certainly not on Saturday. We (ConeCrazy, that's the Flemish team) were so "impolite" to stay as supporters (for Sch3lp), but on Sunday morning even we gave up. They reacted so surprised at the entrance when we said that we were just there as supporters, not as riders... their answer was "oh, on special invitation then?". Is just a local skater not welcome then at such a competition? If so, sorry to say, this sport will never grow.
And believe us, the ConeCrazy team tries really hard. We give a demo somewhere almost every weekend. We give free lessons everywhere. And for sure, this sport is slowly but steadily growing in Belgium.

I'm sorry to write in English. I perfectly understand French, but writing is difficult. Comments in French to this post are most welcome. And... thanks Clochette for the pictures. And for the skating of course... you were great!

Emma,

The local skaters are welcomed - as competitor or as public - please do not focus on these words. The intention about organizing a competition in Belguim, is to bring the event near the skaters. Near your team + Dutch ...

We skated on Friday night at ING place, on Saturday at the "bois de la Cambre", well I told the local skaters how much that was made for them - ask Vikki or Xavier for a check Wink Ok they didn't join this week end. But they came they saw and they will be less shy next year. They were 100% invited to take part / or to come & see.

The IFSA is leaded by skaters, its first goal is the developpment of Freestyle sports. We know that before being Champion, everyone needs to be beginner. Therefore the World Cups are opened to everyone. Especially for those who live near. Only the World Championship has qualifications.

Be sure - you, skaters from Belguim Netherlands - are the first guests of this kind of event - as competitor (please) or as public. If it has been set in Bruxelles it was for the local skaters & the growing scene in this area.

Smile

Right, we were definitely welcome to participate but nobody of us, apart from sch3lp, was really ready this year for an IFSA competition. We all started with slalom something like 16 months ago. Of course, we might have participated for fun, but knowing to end all on the last places this was a bit ridiculous. Vicky, Xavier and some others might be ready for an IFSA competition next year though.
About "the not welcome public", we all came early (at 09:30) on Saturday (with our skates!) but:

1) They wanted us to sit on the tribunes where you can't even see the competitors practicing. We were not allowed to come any closer. Fortunately this attititude was changed somewhat on Sunday.
2) Not a single chance to skate and learn from the others there if you don't subscribe to the competetion, not even for 15 min. No good surfaces also outside the building. Right, we went together to Bois de la Cambre on Saturday evening, but it would have been so much nicer to skate in this nice hall between 17:00 and 22:00. We were unfortunately kindly asked to leave.

Apart from that, the competition was (almost) perfectly organised (for the competitors) and you shouldn't interprete my words as criticism, only as some hints to improve next year. We will we be there, both as riders and supporters.
